Indications for Use
Indicated for the treatment of chronic and acute hepatitis, post-hepatitis cirrhosis, fatty liver, precomatose states and hepatic coma: lipoic acid has a potent liver-protective effect and it is a metabolic activator. Indicated for the treatment of renal failure: it improves renal flow, glomerular filtration and creatinine clearance. It can also be used in case of food poisoning or heavy metal poisoning, such as those caused by lead, mercury and arsenic. It is also indicated to treat mushroom poisoning, such as Amanita phalloides, and to treat drug poisoning. Lipoic acid is a potent antitoxic agent, it acts as a chelating agent of heavy metals and it promotes fast regeneration of hepatocyte. As an antioxidant: lipoic acid is one of the most potent known natural antioxidants. It acts as a free radical scavenger, by protecting tissues from damage caused by reactive oxygen species. In senior patients: it improves brain function, thanks to its antioxidant power, and it provides a better neuronal oxygenation, thus contributing to improve the behavior of senior dogs suffering from Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome. In diabetic patients: it can be used to treat and prevent diabetes-related complications, such as diabetic neuropathy, cataracts and macular degeneration. In cases of type II diabetes (insulin resistance), lipoic acid favors glucose entry into muscular cells, thus improving sensibility to this hormone. Dermatological diseases: Urticaria and other food-related skin conditions. Patients undergoing oncological treatment: different studies show that the administration of lipoic acid helps prevent the possible appearance of the toxic effects of these drugs.

Dosage and Instructions for Use
Dogs and Cats: 1 tablet/10 kg live weight. Dosage may vary at the discretion of the intervening Veterinary Surgeon. Preferably administer in series of 5 to 10 days.
