The product is indicated for cats and dogs in the following cases: - In surgical premedication, to avoid excessive salivation, to reduce bronchial mucus, and to avoid vagal reflex that can occur during manipulation of the abdominal content. Furthermore, it prevents bradycardia-producing effects of some anesthetics. -Renal Colic and gastroenteritis. Spasmodic constipation. - Poisoning caused by organophosphorus, carbamate and cholinergic agents.
Route of Administration
Subcutaneous, intramuscular or intravenous, depending on the case.
Dosage and Instructions for Use
In surgical premedication: Administer 0.04 mg/kg body weight (0.4 mL/10 kg body weight) IM or IV. As an Antispasmodic drug: Administer 0.04 mg/kg body weight (0.4 mL/10 kg body weight) SC, IM or IV, every 6-8 hours. In case of organophosphorus or carbamate poisoning: Administer 0.2 to 0.5 mg/kg body weight (2 to 5 mL/10 kg body weight) SC, IM or IV. Repeat dose as needed.
Contraindications / Warnings / Precautions
Do not administer to patients with glaucoma or to patients with hypersensitivity to belladonna-derived alkaloids. In case of poisoning, due to excessive doses, neostigmine can be administered intramuscularly every 2 to 3 hours.
